Frequently Asked Questions
For three generations, Austin Homes has been focused on building homes that both the families who live in them, and the builders who build them, can be proud of.
Whether it's your first contact with us, or you've already moved into your new home, whenever you have a question, we'll be there with the answer. In fact, we want to share some frequently asked questions and answers with you.
With so many builders to choose from, why should I purchase my new home from you?
There are many things that set Austin Homes apart from other builders, including the customizing of floor plans and our 'Meet the Builder' approach. Our company is and always will be 'hands-on'. Our grab-a-hammer philosophy means we know every aspect of homebuilding, and we are on-site throughout the building process. Austin Homes is a low-volume, quality builder and will never build cookie-cutter homes. Rather, we are committed to building 'Your Home, Your Way'.
How do I know my home will be finished on time?
At Austin Homes, we realize that your closing date is critical to you and your family. With over 20 years of homebuilding experience, Austin Homes knows how to deliver! In fact, we monitor each stage of the building process to ensure that your home stays on schedule.
It's uncommon to find a homebuilder that offers so many customizing options. How is Austin Homes able to do it?
Austin Homes is large enough to be competitive, yet we purposely stay small enough to maintain a 'hands-on' approach to building. That way, we can personally follow through with the details.
When will my sod be laid?
As soon as the ground dries up enough to grade your lot, Austin Homes will professionally install your sod. Once installed, watering and maintaining the lawn becomes the homeowner's responsibility.
What is a year-end inspection?
After a year, your new home will have 'settled'. With the natural settling process, drywall nails will sometimes 'pop' and/or minor cracks may appear. This is in no way a sign of substandard workmanship; it is a regular occurrence with any new building. As the homeowner, it is wise to keep a running list throughout the year, so that our inspection is complete and everything is repaired to your satisfaction.
Austin Homes is dedicated to not only building the safest and healthiest homes possible but also to ensuring that the environmental impact of constructing those homes is kept to an absolute minimum.
Our homes include a number of standard green features that help to ensure the safety and health of your family and also to reduce household energy costs. Some of these features include Low E Argon windows, high quality insulation (including in the basement), low flow toilets, high efficiency hot water heaters and much, much more...
